Willow Gilcher, a four-year graduate of WNA’s Class of 1998, is the school’s Registered Nurse and Director of Health Services. While studying English and Art her senior year at High Point University, her mother fell ill. As caregiver, Nurse Gilcher found her true calling in life–immersing herself in caring for others through medicine. She graduated from Harford Community College with an A.A.S. in Nursing with Honors. She is the recipient of the Spalding Art of Nursing Award and Science of Nursing Award. Nurse Gilcher’s training consists of pediatric, medical-surgical, telemetry, mental and behavioral health, labor and delivery, community health, intensive care, and emergency medicines. Nurse Gilcher began her nursing career in the operating room specializing in orthopedic, neuro, and spine medicines. She is a Certified Case Manager/Delegating Nurse and operates as Health Supervisor for Ripken Baseball summer camps. She serves the WNA community by providing a comprehensive spectrum of health care twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. She is an active member of the National Association of School Nurses and the American Nurses Association. As an alumna of West Nottingham Academy, Nurse Gilcher is grateful to have returned home to give back to the community that prepared her for personal, academic, and professional success. She attributes WNA’s rigorous curriculum, esteemed faculty, and family bond as the foundation of her life’s greatest achievements and hopes to foster this same spirit in every student she has the privilege of serving.
