History Department Chair and School Historian

Rusty Eder came late to teaching and has twice served as the History Department Chair after making the career move. He earned his BA in History from UMBC in 1998 and joined the WNA faculty that following August. He has also earned a Master of American History and Government degree from Ashland University and has been named a Fellow of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation, established by Congress to enhance the study and teaching of the Constitution in American schools. Over the last twenty years, Rusty has taught U.S. History, A.P.U.S. History, Freshman Humanities History, and debuted a one-semester elective on the Constitution. When asked about his teaching philosophy, he replied, “Passion and Process! I want to infect my students with my passion for history and then teach them how to learn it for themselves.”
