West Nottingham Academy in Maryland, USA, is thrilled to announce a pioneering collaboration with the prestigious New York University (NYU). Together, we are launching a two-year internship program in AI-Authentic Intelligence™, a cutting-edge field of study led by Dr. Joshua Aronson, Professor and head of NYU’s Mindful Education Lab. This Internship experience will set students up for a competitive edge in the fields of Psychology, Medicine, Law, politics, and virtually any field in which understanding and influencing others matters.

A Unique Opportunity for Exceptional Students

This program offers select, high-achieving “NYU Worthy” students from grades 10 and 11 at West Nottingham the chance to work alongside world-class researchers at NYU. In exceptional cases, students from grades 9 and 12 will also be considered. The internship begins on January 1, 2025, or August 25, 2025, with only four spots available. Participants will receive high school grade credit and may be exempt from certain extracurricular activities.

What is Authentic Intelligence?

Authentic Intelligence™ refers to the intelligence necessary for human flourishing—intelligence that surpasses the capabilities of computers. It includes interpersonal, intrapersonal, and creative intelligence, as well as skills required in the healing professions like psychotherapy, neuropsychology, teaching, and leadership.

Spearheaded by Dr. Joshua Aronson

The AI-Authentic Intelligence™ Internship is led by Dr. Joshua Aronson, a renowned Professor of Applied Psychology and head of the Mindful Education Lab at NYU. Dr. Aronson is a leading expert in social psychology, known for his research on stereotype threat and its impact on student performance, which has shaped educational practices to promote equity. His work at the Mindful Education Lab integrates psychology, education, and neuroscience to develop innovative interventions that enhance student engagement and academic outcomes, offering interns a unique opportunity to learn from a top expert in human behavior and education.

Program Highlights

This internship blends social psychology, neuroscience, learning science, and technology.

Interns will:

  • Work closely with NYU professors, doctoral fellows, and affiliated scholars from Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Texas.
  • Conduct research on human intelligence, empathy, creativity, and well-being.
  • Design prototypes for new technologies.
  • Write scientific papers and contribute to groundbreaking research.
