West Nottingham Academy (WNA) recognizes and celebrates the achievement of one of its top basketball players, Darrel Brown (DJ).

A rising senior, DJ just received his first college basketball offer from Division I, Pepperdine University! This offer is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent on the court.

This offer comes from his performance at the 2024 Pangos All American Basketball Camp that he attended the weekend of June 1-2.

The Pangos Camp is an invitation-only event that only top nationally ranked high school players attend. It serves as a stage for 100’s of the best players to showcase their talent. D.J. finished the weekend with a statement, as not only did he receive recognition for Top 10 Players on the camp both days, but he also was selected to play in the Top 30 game, in which he led all scorers.

We are proud to celebrate D.J.’s success, and we are excited to continue to watch him thrive both academically and athletically!

A rich history of basketball excellence, WNA’s Prep Basketball Team is emerging onto the national stage with a competitive team sure to make an impact this year. WNA’s Prep Basketball program plays approximately 48 games a season around the country, showcasing its talent on some of the biggest stages basketball has to offer. Equipped with talent from all over the world, WNA’s Prep Team is poised to build on the foundation laid last season and make a bigger impact in the 2024-25 season.

D.J. Brown and WNA’s Prep Basketball team are set for an exciting journey ahead! With D.J.’s potential to excel not only in college but possibly in the NBA, combined with the talent of the other players and the leadership of Coach Kirsty Leedham and the rich history of West Nottingham Academy, there is so much for which to look forward.

It is impressive to see how WNA, as the oldest Boarding and Day school in the country, is not only preserving its tradition but also elevating its presence in both athletics and academics. The team’s commitment to competing at a prominent level and making an impact in the basketball community reflects the school’s dedication to excellence.
