Art Department Chair

Trish Middings serves as the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair at WNA. She earned her BFA in Illustration from the University of Delaware in 1997. At WNA, she teaches studio art, design, and photography and advises both the National Art Honor Society and the yearbook production team.

In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Ms. Middings directs the Eric Fischl ’66 Artist-in-Residence Teaching Program, which brings two professional artists to campus each year to mentor students and lead workshops. She also curates exhibitions in WNA’s Joseph R. and Paul W. Gates Gallery.

Before joining WNA, Ms. Middings worked professionally as an illustrator, portrait artist, and muralist. She was an adjunct professor at Cecil College and taught studio art to both children and adults at institutions including the Delaware Art Museum, the Center for Creative Arts in Yorklyn, DE, and the Newark Arts Alliance, Newark, DE. Her personal artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey.

Her artistic passions include drawing in a variety of media, oil painting, and exploring art history.
