Salve, Mihi nomen est Alex Flynn, and I teach history here at West Nottingham Academy. I completed my bachelors at Salisbury University, and my masters at the University of Kent, Canterbury. My research primarily focuses on the Roman military, and I am currently doing research on Roman military standards and how the common soldier’s attitude towards them changed over time.
I want to prepare students for college, both in the format of classes they will take and the challenges in content they will face. It is my goal to give students tools that will be ubiquitously useful across any discipline they choose to pursue. How to effectively communicate their ideals to each other, how to assemble a coherent argument, and skills as fundamental as taking good notes, written or mental. Abilities that will be relevant to them no matter where they end up.
